Volunteering with us
Volunteers are at the heart of our service, contributing over 20,000 hours a year to help us support local people with a diverse range of issues.
We're looking for people who can make a regular commitment to volunteering, have good written and verbal communication skills and a desire to help others. We provide comprehensive training and support, but applicants need to be open-minded, non-judgemental, comfortable using or learning computer systems and must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
Our typical volunteer roles are:
- telephone assessor
- form filler.
If you're not sure whether working directly with the public is for you or if you have other skills and experience that you think we might benefit from, we welcome applications from people with an interest in:
- volunteer training and support
- digital media, marketing and promotion.
We're happy to discuss combining any of these activities with our other roles or creating a freestanding role for applicants who can demonstrate the right expertise.

If you're ready to apply, send us your details through our volunteer application form. We're currently only looking for volunteers to join us in support roles, we'll be reopening applications for advisers and telephone assessors in early 2018.
Please note that due to the high volume of applications we receive every week it can take us up to 14 days to respond and we can't interview or take on everyone who applies. We try to respond to every applicant, but if you don't hear from us within 14 days it likely means that your application has been unsuccessful. If we decide that we don't have any opportunities that suit your skills, needs and interests, you can contact Volunteer Centre Sutton to discuss other volunteering roles in the local area.

Citizens Advice Sutton is looking to increase the numbers and widen the skill set of our Board of Trustees.
In particular, we want to recruit people with a background in Human Resources and Information Technology
The Board meets quarterly in the evenings and is supported by the Planning and Finance Committee.
Citizens Advice Sutton is a member of National Citizens Advice and we have recently had a very successful outcome to our Leadership and Self Assessment evaluation.
Citizens Advice has a commitment to Equality and Diversity and offers a number of projects providing information and advice services funded by charitable trusts, the Money Advice Service, the Big Lottery, Legal Aid and the London Borough of Sutton.
We also work independently, and in collaboration with a variety of organisations by responding to identified need, this includes LB Sutton, Sutton Carers Centre. Through Pension Wise we provide services to a swathe of London Boroughs
