We are a registered charity that provides information and advice to the residents of the London Borough of Sutton. We provide advice on issues including welfare benefits, housing and debt. Citizens Advice Sutton is a member of the Together for Sutton (TfS) partnership. TfS was launched in July 2022 and is a partnership of seven local charities, all delivering services in the London Borough of Sutton and with expertise in a wide range of services to support Sutton residents and professionals.  TfS  provides a Single Point of Access (SPA), delivered by Citizens Advice Sutton for residents and professionals in the London Borough of Sutton. Aggression and abuse

We will always do our best to help you and understand that you may be upset, stressed or angry about your situation. However, we will not tolerate any aggression, abuse or bullying behaviour towards  our staff or volunteers. If you are aggressive, abusive, or threatening to our staff or volunteers providing telephone services, they will end the call. If you are aggressive, abusive, or threatening to our staff or volunteers providing face to face services, they will ask you to leave. We will if necessary, call the police and/or security. We may also, to protect the wellbeing of our volunteers and staff withdraw services from you. This means that we will no longer help you. 

We have a zero tolerance of racist abuse. Our service is open to all Sutton residents regardless of ethnicity, nationality or faith etc. We provide our service with a very diverse team of staff and volunteers. We will withdraw access to our service to anyone who is racially abusive to our team or other clients. We will also withdraw access to our service to anyone who abuses our team or other clients on the basis of religion / faith or any othe protected characteristic. 

Debt advice

We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide debt advice (FRN617761). Our team of specialist, expert debt advisers provide the full range of debt advice services, including Debt Relief Orders. If you are  worried about debt, please  consider obtaining free, independent advice from us before contacting commercial debt advice organistions, including organisations that are advertising on the radio. Many commercial organisations have a financial incentive in providing expensive and often inapprropriate Individual Voluntary Arrangements or Debt Management Plans, rather than other, more appropraite solutions.  Sutton and East Surrey Water offer a range of discounts and services to people who are vulnerable or on a low income.  See their leaflet for more information.
